Industrial Print in Production (IPP) conference launches call for papers

ESMA is preparing a brand new conference – “Industrial Printing in Production” (IPP), with FESPA as our partner for this event. The inaugural edition will take place on 7-9 March 2017 in Grand Elysée Hotel in Hamburg.

The focus of IPP is printing as part of various manufacturing processes in areas such as:

  • Architecture
  • Business models (e.g. online printers)
  • Coating
  • Direct-to-shape
  • Healthcare, pharmaceutical, diagnostics
  • Homeware
  • Household appliances
  • Labels
  • Mass customisation
  • Packaging
  • Sports gear
  • Telecoms, printed electronics
  • Textile
  • Transport (automotive, aviation, ships)
  • 3D printing

At this stage we are finalising the conference programme, as well as the accompanying tabletop exhibition area of 40-50 stands. Several ESMA members have already confirmed interest in presenting and exhibiting at IPP 2017. Please contact us at info@esma.com to reserve your speaker’s and exhibitor’s slot.

Winter School “Functional Coatings: Materials, Deposition and Applications”

Flemish Doctoral Schools organise a three-day winter school about functional coatings on 28-30 November 2016 at Hasselt University, Belgium. During the course, contemporary topics in ink and coating chemistry and functional coating engineering are covered by international experts and by doctoral students. The winter school is directed to PhD students and postdocs, specifically those active in functional coatings or debating to start with functional coating research and development.

Participants can register here. Furthermore, a speed dating session “Meet the experts” will offer all participants to learn from each other and discuss possible collaborations.

The invited speakers include scholars and industry experts from Allnex, Antwerp University, Dow Terneuzen, Fraunhofer IVV, Ghent University, Hasselt University, Leuven University, Quad Industries, Sirris, Technical University of Eindhoven, University College Kaiserslautern and Vrije Universitet Brussel.

Preliminary programme is available here

“Get Smart in Print Media Business” 2017

For the second time, the Belgian printing magazine “Grafisch Nieuws” organises the “Get Smart” event for printers, finishing companies and all entrepreneurs from the graphical sector. New is the event’s expansion to the print and sign market. Next to the strong networking part at several dozen tabletops, "Get Smart" features keynote speeches from industry leaders. In parallel sessions they present topics ranging from technological to marketing aspects of the industry.

Get Smart in Print Media Business takes place on 8 June 2017 in Affligem, Belgium. All ESMA members and technology partners who would like to present at the event and/or book a tabletop should contact us at info@esma.com

The Inkjet Conference confirms dates for 2017

After three successful editions, The Inkjet Conference (TheIJC) has established itself as the world’s biggest event dedicated to inkjet engineering and inkjet chemistry. The conference attracts now more than 400 attendees – suppliers, OEM’s, integrators, developers, brand owners and researchers. 131 companies sent delegates to this year’s edition and out of 66 exhibitors, one-fourth came with a tabletop for the first time.

TheIJC comes back on 24-25 October 2017 to Swissotel Düsseldorf/Neuss. Go to www.theijc.com to state your interest and write to info@theijc.com to submit your presentation paper and to book a tabletop in the networking arena. As of today, 30 tabletops have been already booked for 2017.

“Smart Printing Solutions” with free access for ESMA members

Peter Buttiens from ESMA will be one of the speakers at the seminar “Smart Printing Solutions” held on 17 November 2016 in Maarssen, The Netherlands. This is the second edition of the event organised by CMBO and “Printmedianieuws” magazine. Presentations coming i.a. from TNO Holst, Leonhard Kurz Stiftung and Trapped in Suburbia will focus on the integration of smart solutions and interaction in printing processes, such as smart labels, sensors  or holography. ESMA members who register via http://smartprintingsolutions.nl/inschrijven-smart-printing-solutions-17-november-de-glazen-ruimte-maarssen/ should choose the “I am ESMA member” option to enjoy free entrance to the event. The seminar language is Dutch.

“Hightech printing technology” day in Antwerp

VIGC, the Flemish Centre for Graphic Innovation, organises a series of presentations introducing different aspects of functional printing on 25 November 2016 at AP University College in Antwerp. Research institutes, suppliers and manufacturers give expert talks on development, concept, production and recycling of functional printing. Speaker list includes Agfa, Hasselt University, Metafas, Meyer Burger, Quad Industries and University of Ljubljana. The detailed agenda and online registration are available at http://www.vigc.be/event/high-tech-printing-technology/

Looking back at ESMA pavilions at glasstec and K

Industrial and functional printing showcased at ESMA pavilions received plenty of attention during the two major shows in autumn 2016. Ten member companies presented their potential for glass decoration and three members joined our pavilion at the world’s premier fair for the plastics and rubber industry. We can now look back at two very busy exhibitions which raised huge interest for printing technologies and for ESMA’s activities in general.
