Three Belgian universities organise a four-day summer school on functional coatings which covers ink formulation, coating chemistry and functional coating engineering. The course takes place on the 24-27th September 2018.
The summer school offers an overview of the most recent research topics on materials applied for functional coatings, coating deposition techniques and examples of the broad range of applications that can be envisaged. On Monday (24/9), international academic and industry experts provide masterclasses on coating formulations, technology and applications. On Tuesday and Wednesday (25-26/9), a two-day-conference will take place, addressing four main topics:
- Coating formulation and chemistry
- Substrate preparation
- Applications for coatings
- Coating characterisation
Each topic will be introduced by a keynote lecture followed by selected oral presentations from PhD students and postdocs for which you can subscribe by sending an abstract.
On the last day (27/9), hands-on labs will take place at UHasselt in Diepenbeek, KU Leuven and VUB in Brussels. Places for these labs are limited and first come, first serve principle applies.
The summer school is directed to master, PhD students and postdocs. The course is free of charge for Flemish master, PhD and postdoc researchers. Other applicants pay a fee of 250 EUR for the complete programme (excluding hotel costs). Subscription for a masterclass is at a charge of 100 EUR per masterclass. Industrial researchers can only participate in the masterclasses.
